The registrations for the 1st European Crystallographic School (ECS1) are open. The school, under the ECA patronage, will be held in Pavia from August 28th to September 6th, 2014.

ECS1 is inserted into an Erasmus Intensive Programme (IP) that will allow students to obtain 3 ECTS credits. The school starts with a first preparatory course (from August 28th to 31st, 2014) for beginners in crystallography. The core part of the school, dealing with the many aspects of crystallography, starts August 31st and closes on September 5th. The last day (September 6th) will be dedicated to the final exams for Erasmus students to get the ECTS certification. The students can choose if participating to the whole IP (10 days) and obtain ECTS credits or only to the central part (6 days, from August 31st to September 5th). The school schedule is organized in lectures, together with hand-on sessions on diffractometers and tutorials on the use of crystallographic software.

The board of lecturers include renowned crystallographers, like C. Giacovazzo (Bari), G. Chapuis (Lausanne), C. Lecomte (Nancy), R. Read (Cambridge), J.M. Perez-Mato (Bilbao), V. Lamzin (Hamburg), together with V. Ramakrishnan, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009.
The deadline for the pre-registration procedure is scheduled on February 9th, 2014. On-line registration procedure can be started at any time on the web site and must be closed, submitting all the requested documents, before February 9th 2014. Login details must be requested during the first registration on the ECS1 web site and used for all the following accesses and document submissions. All the details and information are available on the school official web site: http://ecs1.azuleon.org/.
ECS1 is also inserted among the activities for celebrating IYCr2014.
