To recognise the the outstanding achievements of the late Dr Andrew Parkin in his roles as scientist and teacher, the YCG holds an annual prize lecture at the BCA Spring Meeting. The lecture is awarded to a Young Crystallographer who has been recognised for outstanding contributions to promoting science, raising public awareness of science, teaching crystallography/science or showing originality in outreach and teaching activities. The deadline for applications for YCG bursaries has been extended until this Friday, the 30th January at 5pm. If you have submitted an abstract for an oral presentation at this year’s BCA Spring Meeting, you may be eligilbe! Each bursary is worth £250 and is aimed particularly at independent research fellows, postdocs and senoir PhD students.

There are several bursaries available to help cover the costs of the meeting for Postdocs, Independent Research Fellows and PhD students. Both the YCG and BCA have bursaries available. The deadline for application for the BCA’s ABBF bursaries is this coming Friday, 16th January. The deadline for the YCG bursaries is Friday 23rd January.

Remember that the deadline for oral abstracts for the BCA Spring Meeting and the YCG satellite meeting is this week – 9am on Friday 16th January. You can submit here for what promises to be a great meeting!

Nominations for the CCDC Chemical Crystallography Prize for Younger Scientists are now open! This is a great opportunity for YCG members to be recognised for their scientific output. All details on nomination and rules can be found on the Chemical Crystallography Group website.
